I want to tell the world about Scylla Liscombe and her “Strangefire” persona which IS the living, breath-taking, soul inspiration of her Art. Flowing through her as the River, her visual artwork also embodies the same spiritual passion found in her acclaimed work in spontaneous poetry, masked/costumed dance in “Soulmoves” and the Soulmoves Ensemble, and videos that combine elements of all three. About loving what she does, Scylla happily proclaims: “I’m a child in the garden.” And I’m quite sure that Scylla’s “inner child” is very happy indeed. Artists like Ms. Liscombe teach us that we can all tap into this inner realm called creativity; that it is our inherent right to live joyfully like a child, with the wisdom and compassion of an adult who knows the truth about who we truly are: One with all beings, all things, all creation. One cannot help but feel this movement and passion for living that Ms. Liscombe’s art portrays. Each piece has an intricate story to tell, one that often cannot easily be put into words. This art brings us into an internal contemplation that goes beyond what a passing glance could give. The observer is drawn into, and almost desires to become one with, these masterworks. Vibrant colors flow and expand, spiral and contract, and we are mesmerized. Muted colors, collages, and cityscape-like renditions remind us that all of Life is Art; a truth very few can successfully reveal as profoundly as Ms. Liscombe does. Celebrate your own joy, wisdom, compassion – and creativity – by inviting Scylla Liscome/Strangefire’s art into your home. Like the perfume of the gods, the aroma will become your own. And, your inner child will thank you!

About Strangefire Art Scylla Liscombe

Strangefire Art Scylla Liscombe

Scylla Liscombe is a poet, dancer, and artist (www.scyllastrangefire.com). Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she majored in dance at Radford University (Va.) and now lives in Sarasota, Florida. Scylla is one of the few poets in the country working in the ancient, spontaneous, oral mode of composition to music. She is the originator, along with Justin Spring, of SOULSPEAK a contemporary version of the ancient oral poetry used by all cultures prior to reading and writing. They co-founded a non-profit organization, the SARASOTA POETRY THEATRE, which ultimately evolved into SOULSPEAK/SOULMOVES and was dedicated to the healing power of spontaneous and collaborative poetry, dance, and related arts. Scylla is also the founder of SOULMOVES and...
